Paul’s prayer for the Colossians is based on them being filled with the knowledge of God’s will. As Proverbs 1:7 says, knowledge begins with the fear of the Lord, understanding we are citizens of His Kingdom — not the other way around. As we are granted access to the King, we draw close in fear, adoration and surrender. The result is “living in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”
